Junior & Senior High
A departmentalized, college-preparatory program for grades 6 through 12, with teachers who still know every student's name.
Departmentalized, but not anonymous
From sixth grade, students move between teachers by subject. In a large school that is the point at which children start becoming invisible. Here, the same eight or ten adults see the same students all day, every year, until they graduate — so a student having a hard month is noticed by several of them at once.
Core subjects
Every student carries a core of:
- Bible — daily, every year
- English — literature, composition and grammar
- History — including World Studies, Heritage Studies, and American Government
- Science
- Mathematics
- Spanish
American Government and Economics are semester-length courses; the rest run the full year.
Electives and fine arts
Art, Computers, Physical Education, Choir, Orchestra, Junior High Ensemble and Senior High Ensemble. Fine arts and PE courses are marked E / S / NI / U rather than carrying a numeric grade, and do not affect GPA.
Some elective sections combine grade levels — a single Art class may serve grades 9 through 12 — which is how a school this size sustains a real arts program instead of a token one.
GPA
Bible, English, science, history and mathematics count toward grade point average.
Homework
A homework schedule is published every week for each grade, laid out Monday through Friday by subject. Parents can view or print it without signing in.

Grades and attendance
Weekly folders show progress as it happens. Progress reports come four and a half weeks into each nine weeks, report cards at the end of it, and both must be signed and returned the next day.
High school students may not be given credit for a course if they miss more than twelve days in a semester, so attendance is worth watching closely.

Electives carry half a credit per year each: P.E., Art, Choir, Computers, Ensemble, Orchestra and Speech.
A student must earn a minimum of twenty-two credits to graduate, and must have been enrolled at the Academy for at least six months prior to graduation. No student entering a given year needing more than eight credits to graduate will be able to graduate that year.
Where a student is passed conditionally and summer work is required, the diploma is withheld until that work is finished — within ninety days of the anticipated graduation date.
Transfer students
Transfer students are awarded credit for courses they have completed and passed that correlate with the courses required at the Academy. High school students transferring in may meet the Bible requirement through Bible courses completed on an individual basis.
Dual credit
Westside Baptist Academy does not accept dual credits from junior colleges or other institutions of higher learning. The K–12 program is designed to be completed in full — both to keep the academic record consistent and to protect the spiritual learning environment the school prioritizes.
College entrance exams
High school seniors take the ACT or SAT. Cost and scheduling are the student's responsibility.
Students are advised on the subjects they should take, and are encouraged to attend Christian colleges with high spiritual and academic standards. Check the entrance requirements of your chosen college and select courses accordingly.
Honors and awards
Student achievements are recognized at award ceremonies through the year and at graduation.
